Our Facilities

Our farm team are based out of our central branch in Sturminster Newton, where you will find our main pharmacy, laboratory and post-mortem facilities. However, we also have pharmacies in Blandford and Shaftesbury, stocked with the more commonly used drugs.

We also offer drug collection from Pearce Seeds in Sherborne. If you would like to order less commonly used medicines or large quantities, then we advise you ring the central branch to put your order in or use our new online booking system and we can arrange collection for you from your branch of choice.

We constantly try to achieve the best possible prices for drugs, by working closely with the drug manufacturers, and can acquire medicines quickly (subject to availability) via our daily delivery service to all branches.

As well as drug collection you can also leave samples for laboratory testing at any of our branches. Where these are not left at Sturminster Newton please inform the office who will ensure timely collection, so they are suitably processed.

We have a fully equipped in house laboratory and can carry out a range of tests from haematology and biochemistry to worm egg counts and milk bacteriology culture. Having the in-house lab means results can be processed rapidly to ensure timely delivery of results and treatment plans. Where samples must be sent off, we use external laboratories, including Axiom who pick up samples from us directly on a daily basis to help reduce turn-around time.

We also have facilities on site to accommodate small ruminants and calves who may require day surgery or hospitalisation for fluid therapy.

We also have our own post-mortem room whereby we can carry out post-mortems on site. We don’t have room to perform adult cow post-mortems, so we carry these out on site at the kennels or other collection centres.

In the practice we have a high level of expertise and experience with exports. Our team of trained vets and office staff can help both small and large companies fulfil export criteria and paperwork to accompany shipments to both Europe and around the world.
