We are very passionate about cattle hoof health at Friars Moor Livestock Health, believing that a high standard of cattle mobility is key to farm productivity, sustainability and cattle welfare. We offer a comprehensive range of cattle hoof care and mobility services including mobility scoring by RoMS accredited mobility scorers, cattle foot trimming and hoof health consultancy services.
We promote a high standard of cattle hoof trimming and any trimmers employed by us are expected to be registered with at least one professional body, either NACFT or CHCSB and have achieved or be working towards a professional qualification, whether that be the NACFT Level 3 or other Dutch diploma or the RAU Level 4 qualification. Trimmers who are already qualified are expected to undertake periodic NACFT check days or CHCSB audits, in line with the requirement of their respective professional body, to ensure that high standards are maintained over time.
One of our vets, Paul has also completed the Level 4 qualification. He is the first clinical vet to have achieved this. As a vet/trimmer, Paul has a particular clinical interest in digital dermatitis control and surgical treatment of necrotic claw horn lesions. Paul also acts as a farm vet representative on the RoMS committee.
Our team is qualified to deliver the AHDB Healthy Feet Programme and we also offer bespoke hoof health consultancy services according to the needs of our clients.
We run periodic discussion group meetings with a cattle mobility focus, open to farmers and trimmers which we affectionately call the ‘Foot Fetish Group’. We also deliver LANTRA approved hoof trimming courses according to demand.
