Under new rules, sending ANY inconclusive reactors (IRs) disclosed at a TB test, to slaughter, PRIOR to their retest, is likely to result in DEFRA requiring a whole herd TB test; a so-called ‘check test’. This is still the case, even if permission from APHA/DEFRA has been obtained to send the IR(s) to slaughter.
In addition, if an IR is an involuntary cull prior to being re-tested, for example if an IR has to be sent to SeCanim, it is likely that a check test will also be actioned by APHA.
Please be aware of the implications surrounding culling of IRs as you await their retest. This will not be the case if your herd is already subject to another whole herd test e.g. because you also had reactors at the previous test.
