Bluetongue

Bluetongue has been confirmed in a single animal near Canterbury, Kent. A 10km temporary control zone has been put in place to minimise spread of disease and to determine if there has been any local spread.

Livestock keepers must remain vigilant. Bluetongue can affect species including sheep, cattle, deer, goats and camelids. It does not affect humans/food but can result in prolonged movement restrictions.Clinical signs include ulcers in the mouth and nose, swelling of head and coronary band and discharge from the eyes and nose.

If you have any queries regarding this, please contact the practice on 01258472314.

Progress at our New Site!

You will now be able to see our new temporary entranceway to allow vehicles to access the site! All the grass has also been cut down to prepare for work to begin. Follow our social medias including our Youtube channel for regular video tours and updates!

Our Current Sturminster Newton Branch

Our current Sturminster Newton branch will remain as an important point of contact for our clients in the south of our area. When our building work has been completed at West Stour the facilities in Sturminster will be rearranged with our large animal pharmacy returning to the front of the building as it was previously. We look forward to welcoming you inside, face to face once more!

NEW SITE

As a lot of you will know, we are soon to start work on a new site for FMLH.

The site has been purchased, we now own a 1.5 acre site, situated in West Stour on the A30, adjacent to Ambassador Pools and eight miles from our current site at Sturminster. We have been granted planning permission and are now working with Marshway contracts to get the site out of the ground. Very soon, you should start to see some activity there and we anticipate a completion date of Spring/Summer 2024.

Once the new build is completed, in addition, a pharmacy, manned by a member of our farm admin team, will remain at Sturminster Newton, ensuring that drug collections and sample submissions are not affected for those in the south of the practice area.

The new site will provide ample space for parking and meetings. It will also allow for increased storage of medicines, allowing us to mitigate against some of the effects of drug outages. Very importantly, it will also allow our team to be housed in a facility that allows them to work efficiently and enjoyably together!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
